The washing machine stops halfway through a cycle. You find the manufacturer's Korean website, but the form wants a model code, a symptom category, and an address you normally copy from your lease. Booking the visit can feel harder than describing the fault.
For appliance repair in Korea, start with the official service provider, prepare the model label and a short description of the problem, and confirm the call-out charge before booking. If the appliance came with your apartment, contact the landlord first. A/S means after-sales service; it does not automatically mean a free repair.
This guide is for arranging service, not dismantling an appliance. If there is smoke, sparking, a burned connection, or water near electrical equipment, stop using it and seek appropriate help. Do not repeatedly restart it to capture a video.
Who should you contact first?
Before choosing a date, establish who owns the appliance and who can authorize paid work. This is particularly useful in a furnished one-room apartment, where the person using the refrigerator may not be the person who bought it.
- An appliance you own: use the manufacturer's Korean support site or the service contact on its warranty document. For another brand, do not assume Samsung or LG will accept it.
- An appliance supplied with your rental: send the landlord or property manager a photo and ask who should book, who will pay, and whether you may approve a repair. Keep that exchange in writing. This is a practical coordination step, not a blanket rule that every breakdown is the landlord's responsibility.
- A rented or subscription appliance: check the provider named on the contract before arranging a separate paid technician.
- A built-in unit or a possible building problem: explain the installation to the service desk. If several appliances or apartments are affected, tell the building manager too; a product repair appointment may not address a building-level fault.
If payment responsibility becomes disputed, save the original condition photos and the technician's written diagnosis. Our guide to rental deposit deductions and move-out disputes explains why that record matters.
Prepare these details before opening the booking form
Create one note on your phone. You can read from it during a call and reuse the same wording in the booking form.
- Brand and model: photograph the label marked 모델명 or “Model.” Keep the serial number separately if visible. A product-family name on the front is not necessarily the full model code. Do not pull out a heavy or built-in unit just to find a sticker; ask where its label should be.
- What happens, and when: note the exact error code, which function fails, when the problem began, and anything that changed before it started. “It fills with water but stops before spinning” is more useful than “It does not work.”
- Evidence: keep one clear display photo and, if safe, a short recording of an intermittent sound. Describe what happened without guessing that a particular component has failed.
- Purchase information: have the receipt, order record, delivery record, or warranty document ready. For a landlord's appliance, ask whether those records are available.
- Visit details: prepare the Korean road-name address, building and unit number, a reachable phone number, and times someone can be present. Mention a stacked washer/dryer, restricted access, or another installation obstacle.
Enter your address and phone number only in the fields intended for them. Keep the symptom note about the appliance. If your building is difficult to locate, prepare a short entrance description; the examples in our Korean address and entrance directions guide can be adapted for a technician.
Book through Samsung or LG's official service route
Samsung: sign in before booking online
Samsung's official home-visit booking guide says online reservations require a Samsung account; nonmember booking is no longer supported. Start from Samsung Electronics Service and choose 서비스 예약 → 출장서비스 예약.
Select the product, enter its model and symptoms, provide the requested visit information, and choose an available slot. Finish the confirmation step and retain the booking confirmation; Samsung describes an AlimTalk confirmation sent to the registered phone.
If the site directs you to the contact center, call 1588-3366. Samsung identifies two-person visits and no available appointment within four weeks as possible reasons. Some symptoms first lead to chatbot or telephone assessment. Explain what remains unresolved rather than selecting an inaccurate symptom to bypass that step.
LG: use the product-category option if the model is unknown
On LG's official home-visit reservation page, enter the model or serial number, or choose 제품군 선택하여 예약하기 to select the product category. Describe the fault, complete the applicant information, and confirm the appointment. LG lists 1544-7777 for service inquiries.
For two or more appliances, ask LG at 1544-7777 whether the requests can be coordinated and how each visit will be charged. Do not assume a combined-price discount or that calling will secure an earlier slot.
Check the final booking confirmation and reconfirm any change to the visit time with LG.
Does every appliance qualify for a home visit?
Ask before transporting a small appliance to a center. Samsung's center-service page lists supported product types and recommends telephone consultation before visiting. Do not assume a mobile-phone service location will handle your kitchen appliance, or that every portable product needs a home visit.
Describe cleaning, removal, relocation, or reinstallation as that service—not simply as “repair.” Ask which booking route applies and whether a separate estimate is needed.
If login, phone verification, or language becomes a barrier
A failed website form is not a diagnosis of your eligibility for service. Take a screenshot of the error, excluding passwords or verification codes, and contact the official service desk. Explain the precise barrier: account login, a name field, SMS delivery, or a phone number the form will not accept.
Ask which booking method is available with your actual contact details. Do not enter a made-up Korean identity or use someone else's account as if it were yours. If a landlord or friend helps, have them explain who owns the appliance, who is requesting service, and who will be at the address.
Do not assume English telephone support or an English-speaking technician is guaranteed. Ask whether English assistance is available; otherwise, a Korean-speaking helper and a short prepared message may be useful. Keep the address and error code in writing to reduce misunderstandings.
온라인 예약 중에 휴대폰 인증이 안 됩니다. 외국인인데, 제 연락처로 접수할 수 있는 다른 방법이 있나요?
Phone verification is not working during online booking. I am a foreign resident. Is there another way to register the request using my contact details?
If you need to change or cancel an existing appointment, use its confirmation details or contact the service desk. Ask whether any charge applies at that stage; cancelling before a visit and declining a repair after inspection are different situations. Avoid making a duplicate reservation simply to ask for another time.
How much does an A/S visit cost?
The call-out fee is not the total repair price. The bill can include 출장비 (visit fee), 수리비 / 기술료 (repair labor), and 부품비 (parts). Ask for the total after diagnosis and before authorizing work.
For budgeting, both Samsung's fee explainer dated January 7, 2026 and LG's fee and warranty guide list these paid-service call-out amounts, checked September 22, 2026:
| Visit period | Basic visit | Weekdays after 6 p.m.; weekends and public holidays |
|---|---|---|
| January–May and September–December | ₩28,000 | ₩33,000 |
| June–August | ₩33,000 | ₩38,000 |
These are reference visit fees for Samsung and LG, not a nationwide price for every brand or job. Confirm the amount shown or quoted for your appointment, including any separate installation work. Available evening or holiday appointments are not guaranteed.
You may owe a visit fee even if nothing is repaired. LG states that paid call-out inspection charges apply regardless of whether repair proceeds. Samsung's detailed charging rules also identify situations such as declining a quoted repair, a nonfault issue, or an external installation problem where a visit charge can apply.
A long motor or compressor warranty is not a promise that every part of the appliance is covered for that long. LG distinguishes product and component coverage in its warranty guide. Ask which coverage applies to the diagnosed fault, what proof is needed, and what remains payable.
수리를 진행하기 전에 출장비, 수리비, 부품비를 포함한 총금액을 알려 주세요. 수리를 하지 않으면 얼마를 내야 하나요?
Please tell me the total, including the visit, labor, and parts, before starting the repair. How much would I pay if I do not proceed?
What to do before and during the visit
Make space for safe access, secure pets, and keep the service confirmation nearby. Do not dismantle panels, disconnect fixed wiring, or move stacked appliances to “prepare.” Ask the service desk whether anything needs to be emptied or switched off for your particular fault.
Show the technician the symptom note and any earlier recording. An intermittent fault may not occur during a short inspection; the useful detail is when it happens, not how many times you can force it to happen.
Before approving paid work, clarify these four points:
- What did the inspection find, and what work is proposed?
- What is the total, and which items are covered by warranty?
- Are the parts available, or is another visit needed?
- If a return visit is needed, what additional charges, if any, should you expect?
If the quote is more than you want to spend, pause before authorizing it. Ask what is payable for the inspection alone. For an older appliance, compare the repair quote with the full cost of a replacement, including delivery, installation, and removal—not just its advertised purchase price.
Before the technician leaves, ask them to demonstrate normal operation where practical, explain any limits on immediate use, and provide the service record and itemized receipt. Confirm an accepted payment method in advance if you rely on a foreign-issued card; do not assume every card will work.
If the repair is delayed or the same fault comes back
Contact the provider with the original service number, repair date, and a precise description of what has returned. Ask whether this is being handled as a follow-up to the earlier work and whether a further inspection or repair is chargeable. Do not assume that every later fault is the same fault.
For a parts delay, ask for the part status, an estimated next update, and advice on whether the appliance can safely remain in use. If the provider says repair is impossible, request the reason in writing rather than accepting an unexplained “too old.”
If you cannot resolve a disagreement over the bill or service, keep the quotation, receipt, photos, and messages together. The Korea Consumer Agency identifies 1372 as the paid consumer-counseling number and provides counseling application guidance. Check the available language support; counseling does not itself guarantee a refund.
A short Korean message you can adapt
Replace the bracketed items with the actual appliance and symptom. Send personal contact details only through the provider's designated fields or confirmed contact channel.
I would like to book a home repair visit for my [washing machine]. The model is [model code], and [since yesterday it has stopped before spinning and displayed an error code]. Please tell me the available dates and expected visit fee. My Korean is limited; could I also receive the booking details by text?
Text confirmation is a request, not a promise of a particular support channel. Read back the date, address, and contact number before ending the call.

Official booking and fee information checked September 22, 2026. Linked manufacturer pages are primarily in Korean. This guide summarizes their published instructions and adds practical preparation tips; it is not a report of a repair appointment we personally tested. Product coverage, fees, and available appointments should be reconfirmed when booking.
Updated October 28, 2026: Changed the unverified LG coordination and technician-allocation explanations into questions and confirmation steps. The published service number is retained; no individual booking or fee assessment was tested.
