Delivery App Address Pin Wrong in Korea? How to Guide the Driver

A delivery driver calls, speaks quickly in Korean, and says they cannot find your building. The address is correct, but the app pin points to a back road, the next apartment complex, or a gate that residents cannot use. This is especially common in large apartment compounds and buildings with separate pedestrian, parking, and delivery entrances.

The solution is usually not a longer address. It is a short set of directions that tells the driver which entrance to use and what to look for after entering.

Driver lost right now? Send this first

If the order is already on the way, open the active order and use the call or chat option shown there. Send the building and entrance information in Korean, then add one visible landmark.

Copy-and-edit message:

Hello. The map pin is slightly wrong. Please enter through the main gate of ○○ Apartment and come to Building ○○. There is a convenience store next to the main gate.

If the complex has several gates, do not write only “main gate.” Add the road, shop, school, or subway exit beside it. A driver approaching from the opposite side may see a different entrance first.

Why a correct Korean address can still produce a bad pin

A Korean road-name address identifies a building or building group. A delivery map also needs a practical arrival point. In a large apartment complex, the official address may correspond to the main boundary while the usable vehicle gate is hundreds of meters away.

The Ministry of the Interior and Safety’s address system explains that a road-name address is built from the road name and building number, with apartment building, floor, and unit information added as the detailed address. That information is essential, but it does not always tell a driver which gate is open at night or where a motorcycle can enter.

Check the official address at the Korean Road Name Address search. Then treat the delivery note as a second layer: entrance, building number, access method, and landmark.

Set up the address before ordering

  1. Search the road-name address. Use the Korean address when possible. The official address site can help confirm the building number and postal code.
  2. Add the detailed address. Include the apartment building number (dong), floor when useful, and unit number (ho).
  3. Move the pin only if the app permits it. Place it near the entrance a vehicle can actually use, not in the center of the complex.
  4. Write one short delivery note. Start with the gate, then the building, then the access instruction.
  5. Save the address only after checking the preview. A previously saved address can retain an old pin even after you edit the text.

Baemin’s own easy-use guide tells users to search for the delivery address and then enter details such as the building name, building number, and unit. The exact screen can change, but the basic distinction between the main address and detailed address remains useful. See the official Baemin illustrated guide.

A delivery note that drivers can scan quickly

Drivers read instructions while working under time pressure. A compact note is more useful than a paragraph.

Please enter through the main gate and come to Building 102.
  • Villa or small building: 1
It is the building with the red sign on the first floor.
  • Office building:
Please come to the first-floor lobby, not the underground parking lot.
  • Meet outside:
I will come down to the main gate.

Avoid directions that depend on temporary objects such as “next to the white car.” Use fixed landmarks: a convenience store, security office, playground, pharmacy, or numbered gate.

When the driver calls

You do not need to understand every sentence. Confirm the driver’s location, give one instruction, and repeat the building number.

— Where are you now?
— Are you at the main gate?
— Come to the right from there.
— It is Building 102.
— I will come outside.
— I will send it by chat.

If spoken Korean is difficult, ask the driver to check the message and send the Korean text immediately. Do not keep giving new directions while walking around the complex; agree on one meeting point.

Choose a safe meeting point

Meeting at the gate is often the fastest solution, but safety still matters. Use a staffed security desk, bright lobby, convenience store, or public entrance. Do not send a door code in a permanent address note. If a temporary access code is necessary, share it only through the active order channel and remove it from saved instructions afterward.

Never send a photo that reveals unrelated residents, vehicle plates, mail labels, or a full access keypad. A cropped photo of the entrance sign is enough.

If the order still cannot be delivered

  1. Check whether the driver is at a different building with the same number.
  2. Send the Korean road-name address and the entrance landmark together.
  3. Offer to meet at the gate if that is safe and practical.
  4. If contact fails, use the help or support option inside the active order.
  5. Keep screenshots of the order status and chat until the issue is resolved.

Do not cancel impulsively when food has already been prepared or collected. Cancellation and refund decisions depend on the platform, restaurant, and delivery stage. Use the order-specific support channel.

A good saved-address template

Address: official road-name address
Detailed address: building and unit number
Delivery note: usable gate → building → access method → fixed landmark

Example:

Please enter through the main gate of ○○ Apartment. Call from the shared entrance of Building 102. There is a CU convenience store to the right of the main gate.

Final advice

A map pin is a starting point, not the whole address. The most reliable setup combines the official Korean road-name address with a short note written from the driver’s point of view. Name the usable gate, the building number, and one fixed landmark. That usually prevents more confusion than adding several lines of explanation after the driver is already lost.
