Can Tourists Book Hair Salons and Beauty Services in Korea?

Short answer: Yes. A tourist can book a haircut, color, perm, nail appointment, makeup session, personal-color consultation, or non-medical spa service in Korea. The easiest route depends on the salon: use NAVER Booking when the business has enabled its foreign-visitor option, use an international booking platform when you want English support, or contact the salon directly when neither route is available.

The main difficulty is not whether foreigners are allowed. It is finding out exactly what is included, whether the assigned stylist can consult in your language, and how much the service will cost after hair-length, product, or designer-level charges. NAVER Booking now has a tourist route—but each salon decides whether to accept it

NAVER expanded Booking and Order for non-resident foreign visitors in June 2025. According to NAVER's official business guide, participating businesses can enable or disable foreigner bookings. English, Japanese, and Simplified Chinese are provided through Papago translation, and an overseas-issued card can be used when a participating business requires advance payment.

That means a tourist no longer needs to assume that NAVER Booking is residents-only. It also means that seeing a salon on NAVER Map does not guarantee that its reservation page will accept the tourist flow.

3. Follow NAVER's non-resident foreigner booking route. NAVER says this tourist route requires a NAVER ID that has not been real-name verified in Korea.
4. If advance payment is required, check whether the page offers overseas-card payment for foreign visitors.
5. Save the confirmation page, booking number, branch address, and cancellation deadline.

If the page says booking is unavailable, the salon may have disabled foreign bookings, the service may not support the tourist route, or the time may simply be full. Move to the salon's official contact channel instead of repeatedly creating accounts.

When an international booking platform is easier

A commercial platform aimed at travelers can be useful when you want the service menu, price, appointment status, and customer support in English. Creatrip, for example, lists hair, makeup, nail, and other beauty reservations and says it sends the reservation status by email and through the user's account. Its individual listings explain whether a deposit or prepayment is required.

Treat the listing as a booking channel, not as proof that every stylist at the business is fluent in English. Before paying, read the specific listing for:

• The exact branch and designer included
• Whether the displayed price is the full amount or only a deposit
• What you must pay at the salon
• Possible hair-length, bleach, product, or premium-stylist charges
• Supported consultation languages and whether an interpreter must be requested
• Rescheduling, late-arrival, no-show, and refund rules

Compare the platform listing with the salon's current official page. Prices, designer schedules, and branch policies can change faster than a travel article.

Direct messages work best when you send a complete request

Many salons publish an official Instagram account, KakaoTalk channel, LINE account, email address, or telephone number. A short “Can I book?” message creates extra back-and-forth. Send the information the receptionist actually needs:

Replace the date, service, hair details, and language. Do not send passport images or card details through social media messages.

Ask for the total price, not only the menu price

A listed starting price may not be the final amount. The variables differ by business, but a useful written quote should clarify:

• Hair length: Is there a length surcharge (기장 추가)?
• Designer level: Does the selected stylist have a separate fee?
• Color: Is bleaching included, and how many rounds are estimated?
• Perm: Which perm type is being quoted?
• Treatment: Is a clinic or conditioning treatment optional or bundled?

4. Read the cancellation and deposit rules before paying.

For an ordinary cut or simple nail service, this can be arranged after arrival. For major color changes, perms, event makeup, or a specific well-known stylist, book before the trip and confirm again a day or two before the appointment.
