How to Use a PC Bang in Korea: Guest Access, Games, and Payment

A free seat and a row of game icons do not necessarily mean you can start playing straight away. At a Korean PC bang, you need to sort out two separate things: access to the computer and access to the game you want to play.

For a first visit, ask for non-member use, confirm that your own game account will work, and buy a short session before committing to a longer package. A PC bang guest login does not create a Korean game account for you.

Checked September 23, 2026. This guide is for adult visitors and foreign residents. Prices, payment methods, identification requirements, and session rules depend on the venue; game access depends on the publisher.

Can foreigners use a PC bang without membership?

Look for a venue that offers 비회원 (non-member) access. This is a real option, not a workaround: the Korea Tourism Organization's esports travel guide lists separate member and non-member rates for T1 Base Camp in Seoul. That is an example of one venue, not a promise that every PC bang accepts walk-in guests under the same conditions. Check the branch's current terms rather than relying on an older travel-guide price.

Before buying time, show the staff this:

비회원으로 이용할 수 있나요? 한국 휴대폰 번호가 없어도 되나요?
Can I use a computer as a non-member? Is it possible without a Korean phone number?

If the answer is no, ask whether staff can arrange a legitimate guest session. If they cannot, try another staffed venue. Do not enter someone else's phone number or identity information to get past registration.

Younger travelers should check admission hours, age restrictions, and acceptable identification before visiting. Do not assume that a venue's late opening hours mean unrestricted access for minors.

Understand the three things you may be paying for

  • Computer time: the right to use a seat for a specified period or under a running-time tariff.
  • Game access: your publisher account, any required game license, and the correct region or server.
  • Extras: food, drinks, premium seats, or other charges shown by the venue.

The distinction matters when comparing prices. Ask for the non-member total for the seat you intend to use, not just the largest hourly figure on a sign. A member offer or a long prepaid package may not apply to your visit.

How much is one hour for a non-member? Are there any additional charges?

Your first visit: from payment to a working game

  1. Check the game first. Show its name and explain which region your account uses. Ask whether the game is installed and whether that client supports your account. Staff can help with the computer, but cannot guarantee a publisher will accept your login.
  2. Choose a short session. Ask when billing starts, whether unused time is retained, and what happens if you cannot log in. Confirm any refund conditions before paying; do not assume unused minutes automatically become a refund.
  3. Follow the branch's guest procedure. If there is a kiosk, look for 비회원. Staff may instead handle payment at the counter. Keep any receipt, access code, or guest card until checkout.
  4. Confirm your seat and timer. Use the assigned or selected seat and the login method you were given. Check that the remaining time or running charge makes sense before opening a game.
  5. Test the essentials. Check keyboard input, mouse, headset, and the game's login screen. Report a fault immediately, with your seat number, rather than spending paid time trying to repair the machine.

For a first visit, a staffed branch is the easier choice. Search a map for PC방 near your destination, then check the branch listing and recent opening information. Our Korea travel apps guide covers mapping and translation tools that can help with signs and menus.

Will your overseas game account work?

Check the publisher's rules for your particular game before planning a visit around it. Being physically in Korea does not change your account's registered region, unlock every server, or replace identity verification.

League of Legends: do not assume you can transfer to Korea

Riot's current Account Transfer FAQ lists Korea as an unavailable transfer destination for North America, EU West, and several other regions. A PC bang membership cannot override that restriction. If you want to play with friends on a particular server, check account eligibility with Riot before paying for a long session.

A region mismatch is not necessarily a broken PC. Note the error and the client region, then use the publisher's official support. Do not buy, rent, or borrow a stranger's personal account to get around registration.

Steam: an installed game is not automatically included

You may need your own Steam account and the appropriate game license. Valve also operates an official Steam PC Café program, through which participating venues can provide commercially licensed games. Availability depends on the venue's library and available licenses; the Steam icon on the desktop does not prove that a particular game is included.

Ask whether your chosen title requires your own copy. Do not buy a second copy just because the first launch fails—check the signed-in account, the selected title, and any venue licensing arrangements first.

If a login asks for Korean identity verification

First identify whose screen it is: the PC bang's membership system or the game publisher's account page. Guest access may solve the former; it does not solve the latter.

If the game requests 본인인증 (identity verification), use its official instructions for foreign users. Do not assume that buying any Korean SIM will make your account eligible. Residents dealing with phone verification can start with our Korea SIM guide for residents, then confirm the game's own requirements.

What to do when something does not work

The kiosk rejects your card

Ask whether the counter accepts your overseas-issued card or another payment method. A card symbol alone is not confirmation that your card will work. Before trying again, check whether the machine issued a receipt or credited time. If your banking app shows a pending transaction, keep a screenshot and ask staff to check the sale; a pending entry by itself does not confirm a completed purchase.

해외 발급 카드인데 결제가 안 돼요. 카운터에서 결제할 수 있나요?
My overseas-issued card is not working. Can I pay at the counter?

The game needs an update, administrator permission, or anti-cheat repair

Show staff the exact error. Ask whether they can fix it or move your remaining session to a working seat. Do not disable security software, change administrator settings, install unofficial launchers, or use a VPN to bypass account restrictions. If the problem is a publisher outage or account restriction, switching seats may not help.

The keyboard types Korean instead of English

Check the Windows input indicator before entering a password. Look for the 한/영 key or ask staff to switch the input language. Test with harmless text, not by exposing your password in a visible text box.

Your time is about to run out

Check the timer before starting another match. Ask how to add time to the current session, and confirm it appears on screen after payment. Do not assume that an active match stops the venue's timer or prevents the session from ending.

You need to change seats or step outside

Ask whether the session can be moved or paused. Do not open a second paid session by mistake, leave a logged-in account unattended, or assume time stops while you are away.

Food, headsets, and small courtesies

If you order food from the desktop menu, check the item, quantity, seat number, and payment method before confirming. Treat food as a separate purchase unless the selected package explicitly includes it. Ask staff if you have an allergy; a translated menu is not enough to establish ingredients or cross-contact risks.

Use a headset for game audio and keep voice chat considerate of nearby players. Ask before moving shared equipment between seats. For rules on outside food, smoking areas, or temporary absences, follow the venue's signs and staff instructions.

Finish the session without leaving your accounts behind

Signing out of a game and ending PC bang billing are separate jobs. Leave enough paid time to do both.

  1. Save your progress and check any cloud-sync status before closing the game.
  2. Sign out of game launchers, chat apps, email, and websites individually. Closing their windows is not the same as signing out.
  3. Close all private browsing windows and remove any personal files you downloaded. Avoid uploading identity documents or handling sensitive banking on a shared PC in the first place.
  4. Use the venue's end-session control—look for wording such as 사용종료—or ask staff to end the session. Confirm any outstanding charges and the treatment of unused time.
  5. Collect your phone, wallet, charging cable, and receipt before leaving.

For web use, a private window helps limit what remains in the browser. It is not a guarantee that a shared computer is safe. Google's Incognito documentation specifically notes that downloaded files remain after the session ends. Incognito also does not sign you out of a separate game launcher.

Keep account protection enabled and decline saved-password, browser-sync, and “remember me” prompts. Steam's authenticator guide explains its mobile login options and the setting for not saving credentials on a computer. If you use QR sign-in, scan only the official login screen and check the request on your own phone before approving it. Never hand over recovery codes.

Already left without logging out? On your own trusted device, review the affected service's active sessions and use its remote sign-out or device-deauthorization controls. Steam Guard's FAQ covers deauthorizing devices after an accidental remembered login; Microsoft's public-computer guidance links to signing out elsewhere. If there is suspicious activity, change the affected password on your trusted device and contact official support. Separately call the PC bang if you are unsure whether your paid session ended.

The simplest plan for a first PC bang visit

Pick one game that you already have an eligible account for. Bring your phone with access to your authenticator, ask for non-member use, and start with a short session. Once the login, controls, and billing all work, decide whether to add time. That small test is more useful than buying the cheapest-looking bundle and discovering that you cannot play the game you came for.

Source note: Official tourism and publisher support pages are linked beside the claims they support. The visit sequence and troubleshooting checklist are practical recommendations, not a universal PC bang policy or a claim of a firsthand venue test. Confirm branch-specific charges and access conditions before paying.
