Bring an original accepted ID for Paju DMZ Peace Tourism; a photo of your passport is not enough. Check every traveller’s documents before leaving. An advance reservation does not remove the identity check or guarantee access on the day.
Official guidance checked: October 18, 2026. Paju’s linked visitor page does not display a separate publication or effective date. These rules concern Paju DMZ Peace Tourism; confirm the conditions of any differently named tour with its organiser.
Which ID can a foreign visitor use?
Paju City’s DMZ Peace Tourism visitor rules list a passport, foreign registration card, or US military ID for foreign visitors. They reject ID copies, including screenshots and photographs. All visitors’ identities must be checked before ticket issuance.
For an overseas visitor travelling on a passport, pack the original document in an accessible, secure place. Check that the personal details used for the reservation match it. If your name contains several parts or the booking form truncated it, ask the organiser how to handle the difference before travel rather than hoping a checkpoint will interpret it for you.
Paju’s page allows minors to enter when accompanied by an adult guardian. For a foreign child, ask the organiser which details or documents the group must present; the page does not set out a separate foreign-child document list. Check unusual documents or a replacement passport before travel.
Check the exact tour you booked
Write down the product name, organiser, meeting point, date, and booking reference. Ask whether the meeting point is the departure point for a private coach or the place where your group will obtain the official admission ticket.
Paju’s rules say the whole party must have arrived at Imjingak for ticketing. If one person is late, tell the organiser early; arriving members should not assume they can collect admission for an absent traveller.
Use the reservation and notice links from Paju’s official tourism portal to find the current service. The portal lists the DMZ ticket office at 031-954-0303. If a reservation link fails or your documents are unclear, ask the ticket office or your organiser before travelling.
Pack for a controlled visit
- Original accepted ID for each adult, plus any documents confirmed for accompanying minors.
- Booking reference and organiser’s contact details.
- The meeting point saved in English and Korean.
- Comfortable footwear and only the belongings you need.
Ask where bags and phones should be kept during each part of the visit. Follow the staff’s current photography instructions. Paju’s published rules prohibit photography and video, including drones, within its DMZ Peace Tourism course; a travel video recorded elsewhere is not permission to film your own visit.
What if access is cancelled?
Paju warns that emergencies, security conditions, or weather can restrict access without advance notice and can cancel reservations. Before leaving, check the organiser’s latest message and the official notice route. If the plan changes, ask which portion was cancelled, whether an alternative is optional, and how the booking’s refund conditions apply.
Keep a flexible alternative in the same region. The official Imjingak visitor information describes its memorials and visitor area; check access to the individual facility you want before treating it as a replacement.
